Campaign & Advocacy Lead, The Democracy Network

Involve hosts The Democracy Network, a network of people and organisations working on issues of power, democracy and voice across Great Britain and Northern Ireland. We support each other to connect and collaborate, share and learn, and take action and influence decision makers with the aim of building a stronger UK democracy.

Involve is the UK’s leading public participation charity; we work to build a more vibrant democracy, with people at the heart of decision-making. Involve is at the vanguard of changing our democracy. Combining innovation, advocacy and hands-on delivery, we are showing exactly what our democratic future holds.

The Campaign and Advocacy Lead will play a central role in our growing team, with a focus on winning democratic change and leading public facing activities. The role will be responsible for leading campaign development in collaboration with democracy network members and wider sector, including coordinating and collating potential policy proposals and influencing stakeholders and decision makers.

To succeed, you will need to have excellent campaign and communications skills. You will be organised and self motivated and be able to manage competing priorities. You will need to be a strong communicator and good at building trusting relationships with a diverse range of people. And you will need to be proactive, seeking out opportunities to develop new campaign opportunities and finding ways to ensure democracy is high on the public agenda.

We have physical offices in London and Belfast which are always available to work in. We are flexible in terms of either working from home, or working hybrid from home and a physical office. However the successful candidate must be able to travel to attend network activities. This will involve travel across the UK to different locations where Network organisations are based, for face-to-face events, conferences and meetings.

We encourage applications from candidates who are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME), working class candidates, and those with disabilities, as these groups are underrepresented throughout the democracy sector.
