Young people have an insider view for how other young people are feeling so there is potential for a better understanding of the issues. It is also important that young people know their own potential and that by being involved they can gain transferable skills such as communication and confidence which are useful in later life.
MH:2K is important because it is a project prompting important discussions which may have otherwise been overlooked. The project is encouraging positivity, confidence and making a change. By being involved I have gained knowledge about the importance of mental health as an issue. I have also been able to meet new people which I would not have met otherwise and my awareness and confidence has improved. Youth mental health is often overlooked and disregarded so it's important that we raise it. Your development as a young person shapes the person you will become in the future. By having these conversations earlier, with young people, it is more positive in the long run.
